Urstof is the Danish word for primordial matter — the original substance from which everything emerges.
When you stand before the work, you do not simply look at it. You enter it. Your reflection merges with the abstracted material world, and the boundary between body and substance dissolves.
This is the quiet argument of Urstof. The hierarchy we have built — placing the human being above the animal, the plant, the stone, the glass — is a fiction.
We are not elevated above the material world. We are continuous with it.
